VISION

Young people being and bringing Christ wherever they are

HISTORY

CFC-Youth for Christ is one of the ministries of Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation which was established in 1993 together with the ministries of Kids for Christ, Singles for Christ and Handmaids of the Lord. It is a Catholic charismatic community and engages in family life movement. It owes its existence, identity, mission and vision to CFC as it exists as a partner in evangelizing the young. The ministry has envisioned the youth to be “Young People Being and Bringing Christ Wherever They Are.” Through its programs, the ministry will evangelize other youths around the world and make them followers of Christ and to continue embracing the mission as God called them to be.

CAMPUS BASED PROGRAM

YFC Campus Based is CFC Youth for Christ’s official evangelization program based within College or University level campuses. It is affiliated with the Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation and the network of its family ministries within the Philippines and abroad. Campus Based Program aims to provide conversion / re-conversion where a youth can grow as a man and woman of God and be an advocate in building good relationships with their families, friends and other people. These young people are also inspired to take responsibility in leadership where they can learn to lead others as well as God’s children. A program that accepts the vibrancy, energy and dynamism that strives to redirect this spirit for the mission of building God’s kingdom in their homes and campuses.

COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAM

God created the family to be the basic unit of society. He intends the family to be the first environment wherein a child experiences His love, learns good values and realizes His great plan. It is integral for a child’s growth to learn these values as he/she continues to develop into an individual who values self, family, community, and the society. Through this, a peaceful and loving community will be achieved when all individuals acquire these values.

However, there are many forces nowadays that constantly destroy the very foundations of a family. The concept of family and the roles that each member play have been distorted for the sake of convenience, money, power and others worldly things. These forces can lead to brokenness of each member of the family where they will experience violence, hopelessness and confusion. Thus, there is a need to counter this trend of misunderstanding, lack of communication, and disbelief in the sanctity of upholding the Christian family as an integral part of a community.

CFC Youth for Christ, in support of CFC as one of its family ministries, created the YFC Community Based program to simultaneously evangelize the youth in a specific community while CFC does the same with parents. The program seeks to create a venue for the youth to experience good clean fun, form bonds of genuine friendship, express freedom as God defines it and grow in faith through a personal relationship with the Lord.

YFC Community Based Program also aims to empower young men and women to become role models of love and renewal to all families and to the whole community by following the teachings of the Church as what God called us to do, to love one another. This program works on spreading the good news to the youth in dioceses, parishes and other organizations who look forward to the same purpose. Herewith, the program hopes to make a big contribution to CFC’s vision and mission.

HIGH SCHOOL BASED PROGRAM

One of the callings of CFC-Youth for Christ is to evangelize the youth in the community with the support of their families. Many years ago, the ministry realized that the youth spend most of their time in schools and so a calling was felt to be even more active in deliberately reaching out to the youth. As a result, school based programs were established in several major high schools in Metro Manila and in the provinces. As the evangelization mission for the schools got bigger, the Lord continuously blessed the ministry and its programs as it witnessed the students grew in their love and faith for God. With this, the YFC High School Based Program was officially established. The program aims to evangelize the youth in schools to actively participate in youth gatherings where they can develop their social skills in building relationship with other people and with God. Through this, the program is committed to its response to the mission and vision of CFC-Youth for Christ by “Bringing God’s High to the Schools.”

TORCH PROGRAM

Couples for Christ (CFC) is a movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life. It exists to do the mission of Jesus, and thus of the Church, following the vision of Families in the Holy Spirit Renewing the Face of the Earth. Because of this, we believe that CFC leaders are anointed by God to play a very important role of leading the community forward.

The CFC Leaders composing the Mission Core Group (MCG) are expected to live out to a higher degree of covenant to the Lord. One way is for them to respond actively to the special calling of the young in YFC to be proclaimed through witnessing and living our life for Christ. As part of the Couples for Christ community, CFC leaders together with their families are called to strengthen and empower their children through the TORCH (Towards Renewal in Christ) program.

It serves as an identity membership of the children of MCG members. These children are being prepared and motivated to share the torch of leadership that lighted the path of their parents to continue the CFC mission, as it is handed down from their parent’s generation to theirs. It aims to help the children of CFC Leaders to actively participate in the YFC Ministry and will develop leadership skills throughout the years as part of the TORCH program. Thus, the program  follows and fulfills the said CFC vision as the whole MCG family becomes closer to Christ together and, thereby, models and evangelizes other youth TORCH members and their families to be likewise.

How we feel towards the world starts with how we feel towards ourselves. Our relationship with our own being would set the tone for our relationships with others. This workshop will guide us on how we can achieve the best version of ourselves through personal healing and acceptance, which would in turn help us love and serve other people.
