Jeremiah 18:1-6
Psalm 146
The Holy Gospel According to Matthew 13:47-53
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad. So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous, and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. “Have you understood all this?” They said to him, “Yes.” And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” And when Jesus had finished these parables, he went away from there.
Citizens of Heaven
One thing that Inspires me to serve and strive to live a life pleasing to God is the truth that I am destined to be in His kingdom.
In the gospel, the kingdom of God is compared to a net thrown into the sea that collects fish of every kind. God is generous and so loving – accepting everyone as if there are none but us to love. Since we are called to be in His kingdom, the life that we live now must prepare us for that destination. Believing that our citizenship is in heaven compels us to invest not on worldly things but for the world to come.
We are to be like clay and allow God to be the potter – molding and transforming us into a masterpiece. There will be struggles, hardships and temptations along our journey to the Father. However, we don’t have to lose the sight of His kingdom. At the end of age, God will welcome us into His kingdom declaring that we are a good catch.
