Global Leaders Summit 2011: Talk Synopses
“…I will also make you a light to the nations that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” – Isaiah 49:6
The 1st YFC Global Leaders Summit was an event where everyone who was present was equipped to become the lights that will beam throughout the world. Attended by over two hundred leaders from all over the world, the first ever GLS provided countless words of wisdom which surely can aid the growth of every YFC in each areas and countries.
The following are synopses of the various sessions:
GREAT ADVENTURE. Kuya Kirby Llaban presented five Fs that we should carry in order to deepen our desires to serve the Lord- fervor, fearlessness, faithfulness, fullness, and on fire for the mission. We have to dream big for the Lord because the Lord dreamt big for us. He wants us to think and pray deep for us to reach a certain level of intimacy with Him. We must expand our hearts- big enough for the greater plans of the Lord to fit. The right combination of these five will bring the passion for the mission at its peak.
SUPPORT GROUP. Green generation for a greener nation is the call of Greeneration advocacy. Kuya Jeremy Quimpang expounded on loving God and His creations. We should plant the idea of our love for God through His creations, looking after what He gifted us. Also, this love should not stop on planting trees and recycling materials alone, it should also burst to our brothers and sisters who needed us the most. Ate Sheh de Leon encouraged everyone to support Ancop or Answering the Cry of the Poor. With this program we could build a better foundation for our siblings in Christ and for the society as well. As we take initiative to help the less fortunate, we could be the change we want to see in the world. Ate Kat Martin, on the other hand, emphasized our duty to use social media for evangelization and as a means of attaining the greater good.
MARKETING JESUS. We have to sell what we believe in. Getting away from a life-longed dream of being a salesman, Tito Volts Lizardo now markets the most important product of God—Jesus Christ. As living proofs of Christ’s kindness, we also ought to be strong products of God for our brothers and sisters. We are all miracles to somebody; we just have to live the part.
Moreover, we have to sell the right product in the right place. In the spiritual market, our hearts are the perfect spot for Christ because everything that is put into mind can be easily stained by evil. It is the safest place because it is where the devil cannot enter.
HEART FOR THE MISSION. Every heart who knows Christ is a missionary and everyone who doesn’t know Christ is a mission area. As Youth for Christ, we are one with the mission of the Lord. We serve with a purpose and aspire more for every person we take care of. Our service goes beyond self- ultimately abandoning everything for the good of others.
LIGHT TO THE NATION. The new YFC vision “Young People Being and Bringing Christ Wherever They Are” is a declaration of fulfilling the mission of the youth’s highest ideal to become Christ. There is no restriction as to who these “young people” are. Every YFC should imbibe to others regardless of religion, organization, race or citizenship the spirit of being a youth for Christ. All of us should live a life of ongoing transformation in Christ; sharing him to every people meet and experiencing personal renewal and victories. But we should not be grounded on the thought that it is YFC that we need to bring to them. In all things, it is Christ that people should take in. We are only vehicles of His messages- sending them out to the world.
Being and bringing Christ should be a lifestyle. Happy are those who are embracing his perfect ways. Let us establish the fervor, fearlessness, faithfulness, fullness, and the fire for the mission. It will be of great help in the transformation of the society and the promotion of Christ. His value may be high but everything in His name is worth it. Fulfilling the work of Christ worldwide is never an easy task, but with the fire that ignites us to do this service, soon enough, the standards of Christ will be the standard of the world.
i was blessed to be there in GLS…
