2 Chronicles 36:14-17, 19-23 / Psalm 137:1-6 /Ephesians 2:4-10

Gospel: John 3:14-21

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

In times of trial, we often ask “why?” We often doubt and we often forget. We tend to get confused and so much more. I heard a story of a girl who grew up with a rough life, from having a good life to falling down with so many problems one cannot simply hold.  Her family started to break apart. Bottles flew all over the house. She and her family had broken bones, broken hearts and sore faces. It was pretty rough and she thought of giving her life away. But then, she encountered a group of friends who introduced her to a video called “why.” She was stunned and suddenly thought that her situation was nothing compared to the story in the video.

“For God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

This verse speaks so much. This gospel encourages us to never give up. We may not know the answers to our questions now but I know He has the perfect answer for it. “He is why you must die”. The line said in the video which was said by the God to Jesus. God gave His only Son to save us all from our sins. Let’s try it. John 3:16, live it out and say it with conviction. The numbers that give us hope. Our loving God that gave the one He loves the most.
