TORCH: Keeping the Fire Alive
TORCH or Towards Renewal in Christ is the support program of Youth for Christ that aims to provide supplementary leadership trainings and as well as the identity of the YFC sons and daughters of theMissionCore members. As the MC provides strength to the couples, the TORCH program does the same for their children. The program believes that anointing is not only to the couple, but this anointing as well is shared by their children. The program also serves as a venue for preparing the youth to share the torch of leadership of their parents to continue the mission, as it is handed from their parent’s generation to theirs.
Every child of a MC level couple is automatically identified as a TORCH member. Children of MC-level leaders from the Handmaids of the Lord and Servants of the Lord are also identified as TORCH members.
TORCH’s regular activities include consistent monthly assemblies, simultaneous with the MCG and the MC Kids. The program also has major events such as TORCH Party and TORCH Weekends. The TORCH Party is an annual event to welcome new TORCH members and to reunite all TORCHIES who have been serving the YFC mainstream for one night of faith, freedom, fun, and friendship at it’s finest. The TORCH Party is also open to all YFC members.
The TORCH weekend is a quarterly leadership retreat offered to all TORCH members. Currently, there are four TORCH weekends, namely: Afire Weekend, Aglow Weekend, Light Weekend, and the TORCH Immersion.
For years, TORCH has developed into a real training ground for the CFC’s future leaders. It has proved its relevance and continues to serve as a youth leadership development program to create servant leaders in the early stage with the skills and pastoral formation needed towards ultimately serving in different YFC programs of today and for many years to come.
