Gospel: Matthew 16: 13-19

Jesus went to the territory near the town of Caesarea Philippi, where he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ ‘Some say John the Baptist,’ they answered. ‘Others say Elijah, while others say Jeremiah or some other prophet.’

‘What about you?’ he asked them. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ ‘Good for you, Simon son of John!’ answered Jesus. ‘For this truth did not come to you from any human being, but it was given to you directly by my Father in heaven.And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.’

Who Is He?

Love. Hope. Holy. Savior. King. Redeemer. Friend. Father. Brother. Peace. Strength. Faithfulness. Unconditional. Perfection. Mighty. Righteous. Powerful. Compassionate. Forgiving. Healer. Unfailing.

God.

Christ may have a different thousand face; may it be that of a king, our savior, redeemer, or maybe even a family, a friend, a classmate, someone in the community, an old lady or a little kid, or even a complete stranger, but one thing is for sure, whatever of Jesus’ face you would see today, it will always be that of unconditional love and forgiveness; the face of the Messiah. Once you recognize who he is and what he is like, you’re bound to never forget.

As the bible says, ‘Those who know their God will do mighty things.’ There’s no stopping, no other thing to do but to share, declare and live out who he really is in our lives all for the Father’s glory.

When we answer in our hearts who Jesus really is, we humble ourselves to God’s ultimate love and magnitude. In thus, we carry our lives with utmost faithfulness to the one who truly saves. – Michael Parillas
