YFC Negros Occidental: MAGNIFIED!
God’s greatness was again experienced by hundreds of YFC Negros Occidental last May 28-29, 2011 during their 18th Provincial Youth Conference in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental with the theme MAGNIFIED: Deny, Take Up and Follow, taken from Luke 9:23.
The conference began with opening remarks from Tito Boy Guanco, provincial head of ministries in Negros Occidental, and a welcome message from Honorable City Vice Mayor Carmela Gatuslao Bascon. This was followed by a performance from the Himamaylan Gymnast Group that gave every participant in the conference an adrenaline surge. The PYC then officially started with a worship with Tong Inocencio, a YFC South sector youth head. Special competitions such as fun games, amazing race, and greeneration were also opened for all.
Rain or shine, nothing could stop the celebration of God’s goodness in the conference, even in the sports competitions held outdoors. Not once did they forget to ask for God’s guidance, especially in the afternoon worship led by Njong Delfin from the east sector. God is truly good as He continues to bless all of us with talents and gifts, including the couple coordinators who showcased theirs in the Coordinators Got Talent segment.
The celebration continued all the way through to the night’s session, which was opened by a worship session led by Joe Pasilan, a brother from the North 3 sector. This was followed by the first session entitled “MAGNIFIED”, given by a home-grown leader, Erbie Singson. The crowd was really eager as they listened to God’s words of power and majesty. The second session was given by Aim Feliciano, who shared the true meaning of being Christ-like in one’s actions and words. The participants were then empowered in the praisefest, which was led by Ramil Jimenez from Iloilo.
YFC Negros never ceased to thank God as they continued the second day of the conference with the Holy Eucharist and a worship session led by Jayvee Tahum of Metro sector. Each heart of the YFC Negros fired up just by listening to Ryan Las Piñas, the regional head for YFC Visayas, who during the third session, spoke of how we should magnify God in our spiritual journey.
The conference ended with every conference participant developing a strong conviction to deny themselves, take up their own cross, and follow Christ in their lives.
